Fashion, Thoughts, Randomness, that's what this blog is about.

Just me myself and I

Hi, thanks for checking out my blog and looking at my about page.

My first avatar was made in late 2006. I've been here on and off ever since and over the years have had reason to make new avatars, either because I had a bad experience i.e. heartbreak or because I wanted a separate avatar for rp or because in a couple cases I forgot my old log in due to a computer blow up or a health issue. (I have had more than one hospital visit over the time for example)

My first blog was made in june of 2007 and since then I've had a number of blogs over the years with different avatars. I won't go into the whys and hows or whos of that, but lets just say I have an addiction to second life fashion and to taking pictures.

Over time, I've seen a lot of great creators come and go, I still remember the sadness I felt when Last Call closed. You youngsters probably don't even know who or what Last Call was but trust me back in the day they made a huge impact on my sl. Over the years, other great creators have left either due to personal reasons or because the technology outpaced them. The jump from texture clothing to sculpty add ons was one big change and the jump to mesh clothing was even bigger. When you add on mesh bodies and clothing for those bodies, it's just been an amazing history to be a part of and witness to.

Windlight and voice also changed second life and while I have grown to love Windlight, I hated it at first. And voice, well I still sort of hate it, so often people use it in such an intrusive way and it can be exclusionary if for some reason you don't want to use voice. For me, it causes the social anxiety which I rarely feel in sl come to the fore and that's just.. not something I'm happy about. Those who are hearing impaired also find voice to be a problem and there's other reasons.

Not everything is about deception though I think as time passes and experiences happen we all grow a layer of skepticism about others. At least I do. But.. nevertheless I'm still here and still playing with my virtual barbie. *g*

My photos are all taken on ultra settings, shadows enabled and everything on basically. My favorite windlight settings for photos are from  Strawberry Singh's Windlight Settings, Jackson Redstar's Windlight Settings and Kirsten's Windlight Settings. (1 and 2) All of these are very useful for different effects and situations. To get them into your viewer - do the following.

1) Unzip, unpack the windlights to a folder you can find easily, labeling the file.
2) go to your windows explorer folder (if you use another computer wherever you can see your folders, I only know windows.)
3) follow this path - C:\Users\YourUserID\AppData\Roaming\Firestorm_x64\user_settings\windlight\skies where YOURUSERID is whatever username you have in your computer. Mine is my real name but yours may be different. I have Win10 so it may look slightly different in another version of Windows. But it should be something close to this. If you are using firestorm like me, you'll see some windlight files already there. Also if you're using another viewer then the Firestorm part of the path will be whatever that viewer might be.
4) Open up your folder that you unpacked your new windlights, keeping the skies folder also open, select all in the new windlights folder, and copy. Then go to your skies folder and paste. Repeat this process for however many new windlight folders you have and that's it, the next time you open the viewer, you'll have all these other windlight settings in there to use.

I take my snapshots at 6000 x 4000 (give or take) size because I want as much pixel real estate as I can possibly get to work with. I use a variety of editing techniques including blend modes, cloning, liquify and more. It's much easier now though than it used to be. The editing that used to be required on the system body was absolutely insane.

Again thanks for reading and visiting, I hope you enjoy your time on my blog.

Here's a little example. One side is edited and the other is not. Which is which?
